***INITIAL ACCESS TO THE SURGERY BY TELEPHONE***

Chatsworth Road Medical Centre moved to a telephone triage system when the Coronavirus pandemic began.  You may have seen recent reports in the national press about changes to general practice appointments and access. 

Due to the ever increasing demand for GP appointments we will continue to initially triage and discuss your problems over the telephone but if clinically necessary a face-to-face appointment with be arranged.  A telephone appointment will be offered in the first instance so that the GP's can assess everyone in a timely manner and prioritise those who need to be seen clinically. 

Patients requiring an appointment, home visit or advice should continue to telephone the surgery.

From 19th July 2021

Despite restrictions changing on 19th July 2021, nothing will change for us.  To ensure that we are taking all possible precautions to protect our staff and patients, some of whom have serious underlying health conditions, all restrictions will remain in place throughout the surgery.  We still ask that you wear a face covering, observe social distancing and use the hand sanitiser provided whilst you are within our building. 
Our clinicians will continue to wear full PPE when they see patients face-to-face.
We hope you understand and we thank you for your co-operation.

Zero Tolerance

Please be patient when dealing with our staff. We have had increasing incidents of patients being unkind and our staff are working very hard to meet everyone's needs. We have a zero tolerance policy on abusive, threatening or aggressive behaviour. Shouting, swearing or being abusive in person or by telephone will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Patients who are abusive could be removed from our patient list. We are not here to suffer verbal or physical abuse from patients or their relatives. All staff at our practice work hard to help you, we are here for you and will continue to be so.

Coronavirus Update

OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT GUIDANCE - CORONAVIRUS

If you develop any of the following, you might have coronavirus:

  • high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

PLEASE STAY AT HOME FOR 7 DAYS.
PLEASE DO NOT BOOK AN APPOINTMENT.
PLEASE DO NOT COME TO SURGERY.  This includes queueing at 8am to book appointments, you must call the surgery to be triaged.

The NHS is well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases and has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.

Check online at gov.uk/coronavirus and at nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19 for advice and the latest COVID-19 information before attending the practice.

Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:

  • Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
